Symphonic tribute to Refused

The music from the Refused album The Shape of Punk to Come has been recomposed and will be performed during the MADE festival 2014 in stand-alone version by the NorrlandsOperan symphony orchestra.

The legendary and trend-setting hardcore band Refused conquered the world during 1992-1998 and was reunited for a world tour in 2012 with a grand finale in Umeå. Their final album The Shape of Punk to Come is a milestone in punk history which put Swedish punk music on the world map.

As a tribute, a recomposed version of the ground-breaking content of the album has now been done. The idea was initiated by the Humlan culture organization in 2011. The composer and musical director Jonas Nydesjö (pictured) will do the scoring and a new, stand-alone version of the album The Shape of Punk to Come together with the original band member David Sandström.

The material is rich, strong and will be dressed in orchestra attire. The Shape of Punk to Come – Orchestra Version will be presented at the MADE festival in 2014 in collaboration with Umeå Open. The piece is also part of the Seasonal Concerts suite performed by NorrlandsOperan symphony orchestra during the Capital of Culture year.

The concert is part of the MADE-festival 2014 and in the NorrlandsOperan concert offerings.
