Beijing Punk is a 75 minute, English language documentary that is an exploration of the hidden world of rebels and misfits a scratch under the surface of China.
During the Olympics, at a time when the worlds interest was focused on China, this small film crew followed a group of punks and skinheads through the subterranean world of counter culture in the back streets of Beijing.
The film centers on “D-22″, a club which has become a magnet for young Chinese musicians with the urge to rebel. Encountering public apathy and state suspicion, the punk in China is a creature that may not survive long.
Beijing Punk takes you into their world of intrigue and fun, just one step ahead of the authorities.
The film screening is followed by a Q&A session with two of the members of Fanzui Xiangfa, a Chinese hardcore band.
