The Emperor's Nightingale

A family musical based on HC Andersen’s fairy tale about the emperor who loses interest in real birdsong when he is given a mechanical bird. It is performed by Duo Fabula consisting of musicians Jana Lang Bruch and Nina Grigorjeva. They play folk music and early music on traditional and period instruments, mostly flutes and harps. After the show, children will have the opportunity to try out the instruments and the musicians will talk about their features and history.

The show, organized by the Association for Disabled Children and Young People in Umeå, is held at Dragonskolan which is accessible in many ways. Of course, the association’s own members are a primary target audience, but the show will be open to all. Admission is free.
