Shanshui City, a design concept of MAD Architects
Lecture by Chinese architect Ma Yansong of MAD Architects in Beijing. He will talk about some of MAD’s large scale architecture projects and their quest to create ultra modern cities suited to a traditional Chinese spiritual philosophy of harmony between man and nature.
The lecture is organized in cooperation with the School of Architecture at Umeå University and is part of Bildmuseet’s series of programs in conjunction with the exhibition Right Is Wrong / Four decades of Chinese art from the Sigg Collection M+.
Nanjing Zendai Himalayas Center
One of MAD Architects scale projects, Nanjing Zendai Himalayas Centre will open in 2017 on an area of 560,000 square meters.
The historic city of Nanjing is characterized by a rich cultural heritage but also of modernization, and both of these motifs can be found in MAD’s striking architecture.
Mountain-like towers, glass flowing like waterfalls – contemplative surfaces are created and integrated in environments that meet modern life material requirements. In the middle is a village-like collection of low-rise buildings, connected by footbridges and woven into the landscape.
The lecture is in English. Free admission.
