How can you inspire and challenge the man´s role through artistic methods?

A half day seminar in which artistic practices, the male role and talks about domestic violence are the focus, both in theory and in practice. The participants’ experiences are further discussed in a workshop with exercises on suppression techniques, power and macho ideals.
The seminar is part of the project and the performancework Back in Baby’s Arms, which took place on Saturday, May 3 in Umeå. Over 100 women participated and was given make a up as if they had been beaten and then stood in a silent choreography on the street Kungsgatan. Behind the artwork stands the artist Elin Lundgren, the organisation Konstfrämjandet i Västerbotten and the artistic director Camilla Påhlsson as producer.
How can artistic practices inspire norm critical work? How is power portrayed in a visual based practices? How is power understood by the viewer? And how does this knowledge transform into conscious choices?
