Shelley tolkar Beethoven
Welcome to an exciting evening with the NorrlandsOperan Symphony Orchestra!
Come and listen to Beethoven in the hands of piano legend Howard Shelley. You will also enjoy an Italian overture, a Tim Burton-inspired Swedish worldwide success and Mendelssohn’s tribute to Luther.
Piano Concert no 4 is the most lyrical of the five Beethoven concerts, but also the most difficult to perform. However, with British piano legend Howard Shelley at the piano, we won´t have to be worried.
This evening we will also offer you a piece that made huge success at the BBC Proms at Royal Albert Hall a couple of years ago: A Freak in Burbank by Swedish composer Albert Schnelzer. He finds his inspiration from a broad spectrum, such as Stravinsky, Iron Maiden and Balkansväng.
The concert starts with a overture by Italian Muzio Clementis and ends with Mendelssohn’s Symphony no 5.
Clementi: Overture in D
Beethoven: Piano concert no 4
Schnelzer: A Freak in Burbank
Mendelssohn: Symphony no 5 (the Reformation Symphony)
Conductor: Howard Shelley
Solo: Howard Shelley (piano)
