SPECIAL INFORMATION FOR BURNING SNOW

If you have problems with walking, seeing or hearing.

Everyone is very welcome to attend the Burning Snow opening ceremony at 17-18.00 on Saturday, 1 February!

If you’d like to watch it online, Västerbottensnytt will be broadcasting the ceremony live on  SVT Play.
Sami TV Oddasat will do a Sami narrated broadcast on SVT Play.
Sveriges Radio P2 will broadcast live.
Umeå2014 is recording the event for later publication at umea2014.se.

Highlights of SVT’s recording of the opening ceremony will be broadcast on SVT2 from a live studio session to include specially invited guests between 21.30 and 22.30 that same evening. This show will be repeated on the same channel on the following day, at 11.05 on Sunday, 2 February, and on SVT24 at 23.30 on 6 February. SVT’s broadcasts will be subtitled.

The speeches during the opening ceremony will be accompanied by sign language interpreters. The speeches will also be published in text form on the events page on the website and in the Umeå2014 app (iOS and Android).

The SVT2 broadcast at 21.30 and the repeat will be subtitled by the Teletext service, page 299.

The entire broadcast to be produced by Umeå2014 will use sign language interpreters afterwards.

The reserved places for spectators can be prebooked. Total approx. 100 places. There will be no seats. You can bring along an attendant or friend. Arrive in plenty of time, the doors open at 16.00.

TRANSPORT SERVICE
Book well in advance! The transport service can call at Hamnmagasinet, for example: see map. The reserved places for spectators are about 75 – 200 m away.

PARKING
Vehicles with permits can be parked in designated locations see map.

TOILETS
There is a large toilet which is accessible to wheelchair users at the quay between Väven and Hamnmagasinet. See map.

NEED HELP?
Staff will be wearing red reflective tabards during the opening weekend so that they can be easily identified. Umeå2014 will have staffed information points during the opening weekend, see map.

The information point at the junction of Rådhusesplanaden and Vasaplan will also be staffed by a team of people from the Swedish Red Cross.

Burning Snow does not use traditional fireworks, but the show will use some pyrotechnics which will create loud sounds, around 17.45-18.00.
