Culture in the archipelago
Via a host of activities, Holmsund-Obbola is keen to raise its profile in the European Capital of Culture year.
Besides the various year-long programmes of individual associations and organisations, major joint initiatives are also planned. These are primarily scheduled for one week in spring and one in autumn. However, there will also be several events in the summer. The activities are directed at all age groups – children, young people and adults alike.
Examples of what will be on offer include an art exhibition, a choral event, exhibitions of photographs, author evenings, a vintage car show and the 25 year anniversary party for the Obbola bridge.
The choir event involves bridging generation boundaries with song. To that end, the stage will be full of singers ranging in age from 2 to 100. This will also be an occasion for nostalgia when old photos from Holmsund and Obbola are exhibited. Dog lovers are also to have their share in the programme. Holmsund´s working dog club will be running a couple of dog rigs (freestyle). Instructors will then help dog owners try “freestyling” with their dogs.
